The ACEA
About Us
The ACEA ( Collaborative Action for Artisanal Exports) project implemented in 2018 by the international organization FHI360 and funded by the US State Department in partnership with the National Office of Tunisian Crafts (ONAT) assists Tunisian handicraft artisans in upgrading and exporting their products, applying a collaborative cluster methodology that combines rigorous economic analysis with participatory market facilitation methods to engage private and public sector stakeholders throughout the value chain. Since its inception, ACEA has applied a holistic, locally owned strategy to support artisans in the medicinal and aromatic plants sector, most of whom are rural women who also serve as guardians of traditional medicinal knowledge and wisdom within their communities. Although they play a key role in sustaining the local economy, the artisans are often relegated to a subordinate position in the value chain and do not have equitable access to public lands and natural resources, which slows their development and hampers local economic growth.
Wiki PAM cluster
A regional network from Northwest Tunisia
With ACEA’s support, artisans and other value chain stakeholders have established the “Wiki PAM” cluster (www.wikipam.org), a regional network that promotes the production and marketing of artisanal essential oils and related products from Northwest Tunisia.
Craft Exports
The first international virtual craft fair in Tunisia
ACEA organizes «Craft Exports», the first international virtual craft fair in Tunisia, bringing together artisans from the clusters of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and Olive Wood supported by the Embassy of the United States in Tunis through a partnership between FHI360 and the National Office of Tunisian Crafts, offering them an innovative platform for networking with international and local companies interested in both sectors.
This event
Aims to help artisans to prosper
This event aims to present Tunisian extracts of medicinal and aromatic plants and olive wood products to companies specializing in the commercialization of crafts and to help artisans to face the current situation and prosper while respecting the values and standards of fair trade.
