With a career in olive wood spanning over 30 years, Hechmi has evolved with the evolution of the sector in Sidi Bouzid. Hechmi joined an olive wood company as a mechanic, a post he quickly abandoned for the love of olive wood. When he decided to start his own business with his then partner Fathi Youssfi, the latter sold his bike and Hechmi custom-built some wood transforming machines. Hechmi soon became a very skilled artisan who can do small and big, functional, and artistic objects, he won several awards and is well known and respected beyond the confines of his native Sidi Bouzid.
